Trump has proven to be a prolific fundraiser, but the novelty of Harris’ candidacy has prompted a surge in funds from Democratic donors.
“These August fundraising numbers reflect that movement and will propel President Trump’s America First movement to the White House so we can fix the terrible failures of Harris and Biden,” said Brian Hughes, a senior adviser to the Trump campaign.
“With Republicans united and a growing number of independents and disaffected Democrats crossing party lines, the Trump-Vance campaign has momentum heading into the final stretch of the race.”
Harris’ next campaign financial disclosure deadline is later this month, on September 20.
Still, money for Harris appears likely to continue to flow with plans to hold a number of fundraisers for Harris in September, with possible events in New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
On Tuesday, Harris’ campaign said it was sending nearly $25 million to try to boost Democrats’ efforts in up-and-coming races, a figure the campaign said is the largest ever in a presidential cycle.
Trump’s campaign committee raised a total of $268.5 million between January 2023 and July 31, 2024, according to Federal Election Commission filings.
President Biden withdrew from the presidential race in late July and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris, sparking a wave of online donations to Democrats.
But Harris’ candidacy has generated enough enthusiasm among donors to erase the financial advantage Trump had over Biden in late June.

The top 10 Super PACs supporting Trump have raised $305.6 million since the start of 2024, while the top 10 supporting Harris, formerly Biden, have raised $199.2 million over the same period.
Trump is also investing more advertising dollars in Pennsylvania than in any other state between now and November 5, underscoring the state’s importance in preventing Harris from securing the 270 electoral votes needed to win.
Trump advisers say the GOP nominee is well positioned for the remaining two months of the general election campaign.
