Massiel Taveras has applauded ‘queen’ Kelly Rowland for standing up for herself after they were both ‘pushed away’ from the Cannes Film Festival red carpet by the same security guard.
The Dominican actress, 39, took to her Instagram Story on Saturday to repost posts highlighting the Destiny’s Child alum’s response to the incident after publicly berating the employee.
“Queen,” Taveras commented, before writing on another post, “(We need) respect.”
Last week, Rowland, 43, went viral after she was seen scolding an unidentified female employee as she walked up the red stairs to the premiere of “Marcello Mio.”
The argument began when the guard attempted to rush the “Survivor” singer by placing his hand on Rowland’s back.
Immediately, Rowland turned to address the guard while raising his index finger.
A lip reader told Page Six that the “Motivation” singer said, “Don’t talk to me like that.” Do not speak to me like that. You are not my mother. I told you not to talk to me like that.
Although it’s unclear exactly what the security guard said, Rowland reportedly had enough because all the staff members were “aggressive.”
Following the incident, the hitmaker became emotional while discussing the heated moment at Thursday’s amfAR Cinema Against AIDS gala in Cannes.
“This woman knows what happened. I know what happened,” she told AP News. “I have a limit and I respect it.”
Rowand continued: “There were other women on that mat who didn’t really look like me and they weren’t scolded or pushed away or asked to get off. I held on and she felt like she had to hold on to hers. But I held on.
Despite Rowand’s praise, Taveras did not discuss his argument with the same security guard.
A viral video showed the actress being rushed down the red stairs by staff as she tried to show off her long train with an image of Jesus Christ.
The interaction appeared tense as the two bickered their way to the top while the “Other Penelope” star attempted to stop and pose for photographers.
As Taveras continued to turn around in front of the cameras, the employee held her arm close to the actress’s back to keep her moving.
Taveras was visibly upset when the guard touched and then shoved her as they reached the top of the stairs.
