Mason Greenwood at Borussia Dortmund ruled out but possibility of staying in Spain remains

Mason Greenwood will not sign for Borussia Dortmund this summer, according to talkSPORT.

The Manchester United striker was loaned to Getafe at the start of last season after criminal charges against him were dropped.

Dortmund had been linked with Greenwood, but are now unlikely to complete a deal to sign him.

Greenwood is said to be based in the Spanish capital, with links to Atletico Madrid.

Getafe are also keen to secure his services for another season after scoring 10 goals in 36 games for the La Liga side.

talkSPORT understands Manchester United want to activate the final year of Greenwood’s contract in order to preserve his value for a possible sale.

This summer will be the club’s last chance to attract a significant fee for Greenwood and the Red Devils are reportedly keen to sell him rather than extend his loan spell with Getafe.

He is still very unlikely to return to Old Trafford.

Napoli are among other European clubs to have made contact with Man United over the potential signing of Greenwood.

Barcelona were also reportedly interested in signing the striker earlier in the season.
