There has been quite a bit of discussion about the future of legendary video game developer and Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai calling time on his career, and even he himself has spoken about it before.
In the latest upload to his YouTube channel, Sakurai briefly mentioned that he’s “still making games at the moment.” Here’s exactly what he had to say:
Masahiro Sakurai: “As for me, I’m still making games at the moment, but I’m also making this YouTube channel.”
This phrase was dropped after a brief conversation about some people in the video game industry retreating from the public spotlight and sometimes looking for a change of pace, or even moving into a completely new industry.
Keep in mind that Sakurai’s latest update doesn’t necessarily guarantee future projects, so try not to get too excited.
In December last year, it was suggested that Sakurai was “semi-retired” following the completion of the Super Smash Bros. DLC. Ultimate. However, he mentioned earlier this year that he couldn’t imagine a future Smash title without his involvement.
