Donald TrumpMary Trump’s niece explained Wednesday why she believes her cousins Ivanka Trump and Donald Trump Jr. failed to show up in court to support their father, the former president, during his secret trial in New York.
Eric Trump is the only Trump descendant to do so so far.
That’s because the family is very transactional, Mary Trump explained during a live broadcast on MSNBC’s YouTube. Besides, she doubted her uncle would be bothered by their presence.
The reasons for Ivanka and Don Jr.’s no-shows are different, she said.
“Ivanka calculated a long time ago that it was not in her best interest to remain associated in any way with the rest of her family. She doesn’t need it,” she said. “All of these relationships are transactional. She is a legitimately wealthy person because of who (Jared Kushner) she is married to. She doesn’t need Donald for anything. “She won’t show up in court to support him, especially in a case that is so serious and so depressing at its core.”
Trump Jr., meanwhile, may have been lucky that Eric drew “the short straw,” she said. “It doesn’t really make sense that it’s just him and not both or vice versa.”
Ultimately, however, Mary Trump said her cousins would all be in court “maybe except Ivanka” if the presumptive GOP nominee had demanded it. Instead, she said Donald Trump didn’t really care about their presence.
“He is much more disturbed by the absence of a crowd outside mobilizing in his defense. That’s why we see this parade of increasingly pathetic and sycophantic members of Congress, who perhaps should be governing but are taking time out of their seemingly busy days to help undermine Americans’ confidence in the government. ‘Rule of law,’ she said.
Whether Trump’s children are there has “no importance to Donald,” she added. “His narcissistic needs are much greater than that, so someone else will have to make him feel better about that, but this is an obviously transactional family and if they don’t get anything out of it, there’s no point in it. there’s no reason for them to be there.
