Marvel Snap is now inaccessible to American fans, thanks to a major update to the social media landscape.
Marvel Snap is a wildly popular digital trading card game featuring dozens of iconic Marvel characters (including Nick Fury, who was used to help promote the game). It allows fans to collect digital cards representing Marvel Legends and battle against other users to see who wins.
The game was initially released worldwide on October 18, 2022, quickly becoming one of the most popular mobile titles available. However, seemingly out of nowhere, Marvel SnapThe 26-month lifespan seemed to be coming to a dramatic end.
THE Marvel Snap The app/video game is now officially banned in the United States of America after the controversial ban on social media site TikTok.
Users trying to access Marvel Snap On Saturday, January 18, we were shocked to see a message from the dev team explaining that the app had been banned in the United States:
“Sorry, “Marvel Snap” is not available at the moment.
A law banning Marvel Snap has been enacted in the United States. Unfortunately, this means you can’t use Marvel Snap at the moment. Rest assured, we are working to restore our service in the United States. Stay tuned!”
The reason for the ban is likely that the game’s developer, Nuverse, is owned by ByteDance, which notably also owns TikTok. As of the evening of January 18, TikTok was banned to anyone trying to access the application in the United States.
A post announcing the ban on TikTok itself stated that the company would work with President-elect Donald Trump on a solution when he takes office on Monday, January 20 (for more on the 2024 US presidential election, Click here).
According to reports and company announcements, President-elect Trump is working with Nuverse on a solution to bring TikTok back into the United States. However, that apparently won’t happen until at least the day he is inducted for his second term (January 20), and it probably won’t happen right away.
At this time, while Nuverse is prohibited for use in the United States, Marvel Snap will remain unavailable for fans to play or download from any digital platform. This is a pretty disappointing update, considering how strong the game is against strong competition.
Meanwhile, Marvel fans are diving deep into the new game. Marvel Rivals (with nearly three dozen playable characters), released online December 5, 2024.
Marvel Rivals currently teaming up with the next Captain America: Brave New World for new promotional materials added to the game.
If Marvel Snap will ever join the market remains a mystery, although its absence leaves many people disappointed with the state of affairs in the world of social media.
