5:25 p.m.: Perez was diagnosed with a flexor stump, by Scott Merkin of MLB.com.
3:15 p.m.: The left -handed of white Sox Martín Pérez is on the injured list with inflammation in his elbow throwing and it does not seem that he will come back soon. Jesse Rogers de ESPN reports that the Southpaw would not need an operation by Tommy John, but his season is actually carried out, although he can reject in September.
The Lefty left Friday’s match after only three rounds and the SOX placed it in 15 days the next day. The club did not provide updates over the time it expected Bobby Dalbec to the list. This at least said that they did not expect him to come back in a few months, but it now seems that he will be absent longer than that and may not come back this year.
It is obviously unhappy for Pérez and the SOX. The two parties agreed by a one year of $ 5 million during the offseason. The SOX having lost 121 games last year, the plan was probably so that Pérez acts as a presence of stabilizing veterans in rotation for at least a few months. If he had launched well in July, he would have been exchanged for a competitor for prospects, giving him a chance to play significant games, while the SOX would add young talents to help rebuild.
Everything is out of the table now. Pérez only made four starts before landing on the shelf and it is possible that he is not lucky to add to this. Even if it comes back in September, it would only give him a chance to start or two. In this scenario, the SOXs could prefer to give the ball to the young launchers they hope to assess before winter settles.
For the moment, the rotation on the south side consists of Sean Burke,, Canon Jonathan,, Davis Martin And Shane Smith. A fifth starter will be necessary at some point to replace Pérez. JAIRO IRIARTE,, Nick Nastrini And White Owen are each on the 40 men and are launching Triple-A so far this year. Justin Dunn is a non-rosy depth arm with great championship experience, also in Triple-A for the moment. Some launchers recently appointed for assignment by other clubs include Triston McKenzie And Yoendrys Gómez And Michael Fulmer.
