The star of the Ducati Marc Marquez factory maintained its perfect record in 2025 by converting pole position into a victory in a Sprint Americas Grand Prix absorbing Saturday.
As in each sprint and Grand Prix this year so far, the six -time MotoGP champion has been followed at home by his brother Alex on the Gresini Ducati. But this race was more exciting than anything that 2025 had delivered so far.
Francesco Bagnaia returned in the form of a podium on the second Ducati factory, but did something of a statement by leading on a first fascinating round to the Americas circuit several times.
The double champion has made a formidable start of the sixth on the grid by entering the head in the tight turn 1. It was the easily entertaining signal for the 2025 campaign so far. Marquez took place in front of Bagnaia by Tour 2 before the Italian took front.
The two Ducati factory runners then fought against the back and forth, before Marquez made a big mistake towards the end of the knees and was to rely on one of his signature stops while Bagnaia and Alex Marquez fought to grasp the advantage.
But as on every previous occasion of this memorable opening tower, it was a question of a few seconds before Marc reaffirms his authority. He crossed the line to start the second round at Alex – and was no longer heading for the rest of the sprint.
Bagnaia then had a reality control, quickly losing contact with Alex. The order among the first three has never seemed likely to change from there, although Alex has kept Marc honest as usual. In the end, the three best runners were covered by less than two seconds.
The action behind the first three did not simmer at all. An entertaining rebuilding for the fourth between the vr46 duo of Fabio Di Giannantonio and Franco Morbidelli, as well as Fabio Quartarao from Yamaha, took the front of the stage for the rest of the race. Quartararo had the position after a rapid departure, but after a lot of obstinate resistance, he had to settle for the sixth behind Di Giannantonio and Morbidelli.
Pedro Acosta (7th, KTM) and Luca Marini (8th, Honda) emerged as the winners of a midfielder in the midfield between their two manufacturers, who had also involved Maverick Vinales (KTM) and Joan Mir (Honda) before not having been the victim of mechanical problems and an accident respectively.
Ai Ogura (Pramac Yamaha) took advantage of these problems to grasp the end point for the ninth.
