Ravens tight end Mark Andrews made his first public comments since last Sunday’s loss to the Bills.
Andrews chose not to speak to reporters after losing a fumble and dropping a two-point conversion pass in the fourth quarter of Baltimore’s 27-25 loss in the divisional round of the playoffs. Andrews’ comments appeared on an Instagram post Thursday afternoon.
“It is impossible to express what I feel”wrote Andrews. “I am absolutely gutted by what happened on Sunday. I am devastated for my teammates, coaches and Ravens fans. I dedicate every ounce of my being to playing at the highest level possible because I love my team and football like nothing else. That’s why it’s taken me until now to gather my thoughts and address this topic publicly. Even though the shock and disappointment is unlike anything I’ve felt before, I refuse to let the situation define me. I promise that this adversity will only make me stronger and fuel us as we move forward.
Andrews then thanked the people who have supported him in recent days, including those who donated to the Breakthrough T1D charity which Andrews has supported for some time.
Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said this week the team wouldn’t have made the playoffs without Andrews and called out the tight end. a huge part of the future of the team.
