A Marine was killed at Camp Pendleton Tuesday evening during what military officials described as “routine military operations.”
The Marine was a member of Marine Light Attack Helicopter Training Squadron 303, Marine Aircraft Group 39, part of the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing.
The 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing communications office has not said much else about the incident other than that the Marine died around 5 p.m. Tuesday. A spokeswoman said she could not provide further details about the circumstances of the incident, which she said was still under investigation.
The name of the deceased Marine will not be released until at least 24 hours after the family is notified of the Marine’s death.
