On March 30, 1981, President Ronald Reagan was shot dead and seriously injured by John Hinckley Jr. outside a Washington hotel, DC. The injured were also injured by the White House press secretary, James Brady, agent of the secret service Timothy McCarthy and a police officer of the Columbia district, Thomas Delahanty. (Hinckley would be recognized as not guilty due to madness and held in a psychiatric hospital until her supervised release in 2016. James Brady died in 2014 following his injuries.)
