Marc Maron’s “WTF” Podcast ends after almost 16 years

It is almost the end of an era of podcasting.

Marc Maron, the host of “WTF” – the popular Podcast twice a week in which he excited the corners and corners of his guests – announced on Monday that the show would end this fall after almost 16 years.

“It was not necessarily a kind of difficult decision,” he said during a new episode of Podcast, adding that he and his longtime producer partner, Brendan McDonald, had agreed that it was a good time. “There was no convincing, hindsight or discussion. We are done. It is normal for things to end.”

After more than 1,600 episodes, said Maron, he and McDonald were “tired” and “burned”. “We are completely satisfied with the work we have done,” he added.

When “WTF with Marc Maron” started in September 2009, Podcasting had not yet taken off like a popular platform for actors, celebrities and thinkers. Over the years, Maron’s show has become a long -format style that has welcomed hundreds of notable names, notably Carol Burnett, Ariana Grande, David Letterman, Ian McKellen and Demi Moore.

He recorded an episode With Barack Obama in 2015 It was probably the first time that an exercise president recorded an interview in the garage of an actor. His 2010 episode during which actor Robin Williams discussed his insecurity and suicide thoughts was later Inducted in the register of national recordings at the Congress Library.

Maron said on Monday that the last months of “WTF” would present as many people as possible.

“I want to sincerely thank everything you have been with me on this trip with me, and with Brendan, with all the guests,” said Maron. “Because we really did something here and I want to thank you all for that.”
