Manu led an overall score of 585 in the women’s 25m pistol in the T2 qualifiers, just a day after winning the T1 trials on Saturday. Esha Singh was in second place with a score of 581 while in third place was Simranpreet Kaur Braur with a score of 577.
Shooters Manu Bhaker and Anish Bhanwala were on course to claim a second consecutive victory in the Olympic Selection Trials 1 and 2 after dominating their respective qualifying rounds at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range in Delhi on Sunday. Manu led with a total score of 585 in the women’s 25m pistol in the T2 qualifiers, just a day after winning the T1 trials on Saturday. Esha Singh was in second place with a score of 581 while in third place was Simranpreet Kaur Braur with a score of 577.
Abhidnya Ashok Patil with 572 and Rhythm Sangwan, second holder of the Paris Olympic quota in this area with Manu, with 566, bring up the rear.
In the men’s T2 25m rapid-fire pistol event, favorite Bhanwala continued to dominate proceedings, leading the qualifying round with a score of 582.
His compatriot Vijayveer Sidhu, a Paris quota holder, finished second with 580, while Bhavesh Shekhawat finished third on the same score as Vijayveer, but with lower 10s.
Ankur Goel (573) and Adarsh Singh (571), barring a miracle in the last two trials in Bhopal, are not considered.
As things stand, Manu and Esha in the women’s pistol and Anish and Vijayveer in the men’s RFP are likely to fly to Paris after these events.
