Mysore:
The rented house in Mysuru of the main defendant in the Mangaluru rickshaw explosion incident was raided on Sunday, police said. In addition, a demining team has been deployed to the area for a search operation.
According to police, the accused, identified as Shareeq, rented the one-room accommodation last month. He had told the owner of the house that he was in town for “mobile repair training”.
Shareeq stole the identity of a railway employee named Premraj Hutagi, a resident of the Hubballi district of Karnataka. Mr Hutagi said he had lost his Aadhar card twice in the past two years.
Police added that Shareeq obtained a SIM card in Coimbatore under a false name.
“The location of his tower shows that he had traveled through Tamil Nadu. His call logs are being examined to find his associates in Tamil Nadu,” sources told NDTV.
The explosion of a rickshaw on Saturday was not accidental but an ‘act of terror with intent to cause serious damage’, Karnataka’s police chief said earlier today .
