Manchester United submit £51m bid for Antony but Ajax are playing hardball as they demand £68m for the Brazilian winger

Manchester United have made a £51m offer for Antony, but it falls almost £20m short of Ajax’s valuation for the player.

The club have been heavily linked with the Brazilian winger, who was coached by new Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag with the Eredivisie club.

Expect this transfer saga to continue with both clubs way back in their Antony valuations

A big offer has been made for Antony but Ajax are unwilling to sell him and have told Man United they will have to make a £68million offer for him, according to BUT.

The report adds that Antony’s agents are pressuring Ajax to accept a lower offer from Man United.

Antony’s contract with the Amsterdam club runs until 2025 and new manager Alfred Schreuder is keen for the Brazil international to stay.

Schreuder recently said: “It’s clear that we want to keep this boy. I think he still has a contract until 2025. I really want to work with him; he knows it, and the club knows it too.

The 22-year-old joined Ajax in 2020 from Sao Paulo. He has 22 goals and 19 assists in 78 appearances for Ajax.

Man United made a signing in the summer, bringing in Dutch left-back Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord.

As well as Antony, the 13-time Premier League winners have been heavily linked with the moves of Ajax centre-back Lisandro Martinez as well as former Dutch club midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

They said goodbye to midfielder Paul Pogba, who is closing in on a move to Juventus.

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo is eager to walk away due to Man United’s failure to qualify for the 2022/23 Champions League.

However, Dutch football expert Marcel van der Kraan has suggested Ronaldo’s departure would at least be a massive boost in Man United’s bid for Antony.

Ronaldo could at least help Man United in their bid for Antony

He told talkSPORT: “It will all depend on whether Ronaldo stays or leaves because if Ronaldo leaves you need a big name player for Manchester United.

“One of the four biggest clubs in the world cannot afford to start the season with an average attacking line.

“Antony is a big name in the Netherlands, a big name in the Brazil national team and is emerging as a really gifted player.

“I think Manchester United fans are used to having a big name player. They need someone special.
