Manchester United football director John Murtough steps down with Dan Ashworth and Jason Wilcox set to join
Manchester United’s director of football will leave the club this week after resigning from his post.
Murtough has been at Old Trafford for more than a decade but will be replaced by Newcastle United sporting director Dan Ashworth once his gardening leave ends.
The move is further evidence of INEOS’ further restructuring following Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s minority stake in the club.
Murtough joined the club in 2013 after stints at Premier League side Fulham and Everton.
Meanwhile, Southampton sporting director Jason Wilcox is also set to join Ashworth at Old Trafford.
Confirmation of his exit will be confirmed by the club as they continue to take significant steps in planning for next season.
Meanwhile, Southampton director of football Jason Wilcox is set to become the club’s new technical director.
