Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag walks out of press conference after refusing to answer question

Erik ten Hag left the media stunned after leaving his press conference in the middle of a question.

The Dutchman was carrying out his post-match duties following Manchester United’s 2-2 draw against Bournemouth on Saturday.

A result which in no way helped their hopes of qualifying for Europe.

Without a win in their last four games, United appear resigned to missing out on Champions League qualification, as they trail Aston Villa in fourth place by ten points.

United currently sit seventh in the table, two points ahead of eighth-placed West Ham.

Chelsea sit in ninth place – six points behind the Red Devils – but with two games in hand there is a real possibility that the Ten Hag side could slip further down the table.

Although they remain in contention for the Europa League, a place lower than seventh after 38 games would represent their worst Premier League result.

This question was asked of Ten Hag during his post-match press conference, with one reporter saying: “Erik, there is a danger that you end up in seventh place.

“If you drop below seventh it would be the worst result in Premier League history for United.

“Do you think you’re going to be on top…”

Ten Hag then quickly left the press conference, with the reporters stunned.

However, Ten Hag didn’t let him finish his question, immediately responding, “I’m not commenting. I’m not answering that question. It’s not that important at the moment.”

While speaking, Ten Hag stood up before walking away from his chair and heading towards the exit.

Off-camera, the journalist said: “I tried. »

Next up for United is an FA Cup semi-final clash against Championship side Coventry at Wembley.

A victory would see them reach the final of the famous national trophy for the second season in a row.

And they could face holders and rivals Manchester City again, with Pep Guardiola’s men facing Chelsea in the last four.
