Manchester City vs Inter Prediction
Manchester City are potentially just 90 minutes away from making history on two points.
Five English clubs have already been crowned kings of the continent: Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa. City will make it six if they beat Inter on Saturday.
During Pep Guardiola’s tenure, they were the favorites to lift this trophy at the start of almost every season.
Yet so far City have failed consistently. They have dominated the Premier League for the past six years, winning five titles in that time, but Guardiola’s side were kicked out of the Champions League by Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.
They also suffered elimination at the hands of Monaco and Lyon – neither a European heavyweight by any measure.
City have been unable to replicate their consistent domestic excellence on the continental stage. So far that’s it.
Guardiola’s men brushed off RB Leipzig, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid en route to the Istanbul showpiece.
One more win would not just see them become Champions League winners. It would also secure the treble following their Premier League and FA Cup triumphs.
Manchester United are the only English team to have achieved this feat. City are close to equaling their arch-rivals.
Nothing can be taken for granted in knockout football, but Manchester City are almost there.

Manchester City vs Inter Predictions
Manchester City are one game away from winning the treble, but Inter are a fine side in their time and shouldn’t be written off.
Manchester City win to nil – 11/8 (bet365)
Manchester City have a terrific record over the past few months.
In the first half of the season, they often played on their own. But from the end of February, they were almost perfect.
Since then, City have won 19 of 23 games in all competitions. Exceptions include a 1-1 draw with Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals after winning the first leg, and a 1-1 draw with Real Madrid at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
The other two occasions were in the Premier League after Guardiola’s side had already won the title.
Simply put, when City have needed to win a 90-minute game in the last three months, they’ve done it flawlessly.
This underlines how daunting the task is for Inter. Simply putting the ball in the back of the net could overtake them.
It’s not that Inter lack attacking talent. Guardiola would probably welcome Lautaro Martinez to his team. Former City striker Edin Dzeko will not lack motivation. Romelu Lukaku is a great option off the bench.
But if City managed to shut out Bayern and Madrid in previous Champions League games, they should be able to keep the Inter strikers a secret.
Manchester City / Manchester City half time / full time – 6/5 (bet365)
It didn’t take long for Manchester City to make the breakthrough in the FA Cup final last time out.
They were ahead within 13 seconds of kick-off thanks to Ilkay Gundogan’s magnificent strike, leaving Manchester United with a mountain to climb from the start.
Guardiola would no doubt like a repeat this weekend, although Inter will focus on keeping things tight from the start.
So while City may not have drawn their first blood until a minute is on the clock, we’re thinking about their chances of taking the lead in the first half.
From there, they will be hard to stop. Inter’s best chance of an upset is to score the first goal and then defend for their lives, but Simone Inzaghi will be wary of pushing too many men forward in the opening 45 minutes.
Coming to half-time at 0-0 would be a very decent result for the Nerazzurri. But that will be easier said than done.
In seven of their last eight Premier League wins, City were ahead at the break. Inter will struggle to keep their opponents away in the opening period.
Erling Haaland will score anytime – 4/6 (bet365)
Manchester City have actually picked up more Premier League points in 2021/22 than in 2022/23.
This was largely because it took them a while to get used to having an outright centre-forward in charge of the team.
When City were below par in the first half of the campaign, there were rumors that Erling Haaland could be a bad fit for Guardiola’s side.
Nobody thinks that anymore. A record 52 goals in as many appearances speaks for itself.
The Norwegian international is a force of nature. At Borussia Dortmund, he scored a lot of goals while running behind, which is harder to do when you play for City.
But Haaland barely skipped a beat. He scored all types of goals this season: right foot, left foot, header, volley, tap-in, shouter. The list continues.
Who would bet against him making a final statement before the end of the season?
Haaland has scored 12 Champions League goals this season. Don’t expect his tally to remain unchanged over the weekend.
