A man who had 20 arrest warrants in multiple jurisdictions was arrested Friday evening at a house in Somerville, police said.
Somerville Police responded to a call at a house on Cherry Street after a resident reported an unknown man in their basement. Fabio Armelio, 47, was arrested without incident, police said.
Armelio is a person of interest in twelve cases of breaking and entering since Dec. 20 in the Powder House neighborhood of Somerville. Adjacent to Tufts University, the neighborhood is heavily populated by students. The Somerville Police Criminal Investigation Division created a team in response to recent break-ins that included Tufts University Police, MIT Police, Boston Police, and Cambridge Police, according to a release shared by the Somerville Police Department on its Facebook page.
The cases, which happened on streets including including Broadway, Bromfield Road, and College Avenue, have largely been breaking and entering only, with nothing reported stolen. So far, he has been positively identified for his involvement in three of these cases, according to Somerville police. The rest remain under active investigation.
“Armelio also has twenty outstanding arrest warrants in multiple jurisdictions to include Somerville, Tufts University, Cambridge, MIT, Lawrence and Boston,” officials said in the release.
The warrants are for breaking and entering during day and nighttime, larceny from a building, possession of burglarious tools, receiving stolen property, assault, trespassing, and threats.
Police held Armelio in custody over the weekend. He was expected to be arraigned Monday in Somerville District Court.
