Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim admitted, just for a moment, that the exhilarating victory of the Europa League against Olympique Lyonnais allowed him, as well as his team, to forget their disappointing season.

Winning the Europa League is their only hope of making a return to the Champions League next season, and the first European competition in Europe brings – a possibility that in one way or another remains in their sight.
“The sound of the last two goals was incredible, that’s something we can keep for the future,” said Amorim.
“I think that is why we love this sport so much and all the frustration that the coach has in this kind of season, frustration, bad times, when you have a moment like this, all of this is worth it.
“This kind of moment can help many players this season. They can create a link with fans and players, we forget for a few minutes what kind of season we had.”
The central defender Maguire spent a large part of the dying moments at the front, with the lack of Amorim attacker options on the ground.
It was not the first time that Maguire has been invited to fulfill such a role this term – Amorim insisting on the fact that he may have to get to international in England soon.
“To play a normal game from the start, no (Maguire will not play),” added Amorim. “But in these moments, it is something that is really important.
“When I see Harry Maguire and I put him like an attacker, I just see a guy inside the box, is it good or not inside the box?
“If he is in the opposite box, he is an attacker, not a defender, he knows how to behave in this space. It’s just to put different characteristics and different moments.”
