Manchester United owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe was pictured running the London Marathon just hours before his team took to the field in the FA Cup semi-final.

It was previously revealed the 71-year-old faced a race against time to get to Wembley.

Ratcliffe was aiming to beat his personal best of four hours and 32 minutes as he prepares to race to north London straight from the finish line.

Mail Sport understands the petrochemical billionaire’s aim is to arrive at the arch in time for the second half of a match.

It remains to be seen whether he will make it through to the second half, but videos have now emerged of Ratcliffe running the marathon.

Fans came together on social media to praise Ratcliffe’s efforts, while others made jokes about the marathon.

The first player to be targeted was current loanee Jadon Sancho, with user X saying: “That’s the run Sancho couldn’t make!”

Another account has joined in, setting its sights on Marcus Rashford.

“He runs more than Rashford,” they joked.

Luke Shaw was the next victim of the joke, with Theory United saying Ratcliffe was fitter than the Man United left-back.

“Casemiro during counter-attacks,” another user wrote.

A final account joked that Ratcliffe had plenty of experience, saying: “He knows managing United is no joke.”

The Red Devils face Coventry City at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-final at 3.30pm.

On a clear route, it would take around 35 minutes to travel the 12 miles from the shadows of Buckingham Palace to the famous arch.

Therefore, it is unclear exactly what time Ratcliffe will arrive.

Victory for Erik ten Hag’s side will see them face Man City in the final.
