Carjackings are scary situations because, as we have been warning for some time, many carjackers are willing to use deadly force. While there is some risk in facing a regular car thief, it is much higher with car thieves. A North Carolina man found out and paid the ultimate price.

In shocking footage which was uploaded to X, but which we cannot show here for obvious reasons, a man approaches a work truck as another man goes inside. The man wearing a high visibility vest and who is probably the one who should be driving the van tries to stop the other man from getting into the cab.
That’s when shots ring out and we see the man in a high-visibility vest brandishing a handgun, aimed at the carjacker. After the man fires a few shots, the carjacker reverses the truck. The victim, perhaps sensing what is coming next, yells at some nearby men to run as she runs away.
Sure enough, the work truck roars back into frame, angles directly toward the victim, and hits her so hard that she flies into the air. According to a WYFF report, he did not survive.
This report states that the shocking exchange took place on March 14 in Lumberton, North Carolina. It just goes to show that you don’t have to be in a big city for this kind of thing to happen.
It appears the carjacker was initially involved in a hit-and-run accident at a gas station. When good Samaritans like this victim stopped to help the suspect who was trying to carjack another vehicle, the suspect decided to take the truck belonging to the man wearing the high-visibility vest.
This man, who was struck and killed, was identified as Jonathan Adam Lecompte, 38 years old. A WMBF report says he worked for NCDOT for 16 years. Our thoughts are with his family.
As for the suspect, he was identified as Ricky Alex Driggers, 28 years old. He was charged with first degree murder and several other charges.
We’re not saying that you should never confront a carjacker, especially when the victim is under duress. We say you should be careful because many carjackers would kill you as soon as they look at you. Stay safe out there, everyone.
