NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – A Grinch set a Christmas tree on fire overnight in Midtown.
This happened around midnight just outside the News Corporation building on the corner of West 48th Street and Sixth Avenue. The building is home to Fox News, the Wall Street Journal, and the New York Post.

Police said Fox News security saw a 49-year-old man climbing the artificial tree, which was decorated with lights and ornaments for the holidays.

When the police arrived, the man reportedly fled the scene. Police took him into custody, but did not say if he would face charges.
The man is believed to be emotionally disturbed and appears to have acted on his own.

The FDNY extinguished the flames and no one was injured. It is not known if acceleration was used to start the fire.
