A man who fell onto the rocky beach at the base of an 80-foot cliff on Esplanade Beach in Pacifica was rescued Friday by firefighters and a California Highway Patrol helicopter.
Three fire companies and a North County Fire Authority rescue unit responded to a cliff rescue around 6:38 p.m. in the area of Esplanade Avenue at Manor Drive, the department said.
As firefighters prepared for a rope rescue, a CHP helicopter was able to reach the victim from the base of the cliff and transport him to waiting firefighters, the department said.
The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the department said.
North County Fire serves the cities of Brisbane, Daly City and Pacifica.
