Man recreates 20-year-old photo of cuddling his cat before putting it to sleep

A loving pet owner has kindly recreated a 20-year-old photo of himself with his childhood cat before he had to put the animal down.

The man, from the US, took to Reddit to reveal how he wanted to recreate the snap as a final keepsake with the beloved pet.

“I put my childhood cat to sleep today and did my best to recreate a 20-year-old image. I will always love you Gandalf,” he wrote.

The post was accompanied by an adorable 50/50 shot of the user photographed as a child and then again as an adult. In the childhood photo, Gandalf is a kitten, while in the recent photo he is an elderly cat.

In both images, the Redditor wears an orange shirt and smiles sweetly into the camera as he lovingly cradles Gandalf.

People were quick to flood the comments with support, with some sharing personal anecdotes about their pets, and many praising the late cat’s name.
