- Daniel Charles Ball, 39, was facing federal charges for throwing what authorities called an “explosive device” into a Capitol tunnel.
- After the Jan. 6 charges were dropped this week, Ball was arrested again on a previous warrant, charging him with being a felon in possession of a weapon.
Several police officers were injured as a result of the explosion, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Ball had been remanded in custody in Washington, D.C.
On Tuesday, charges against Ball and more than 1,500 others accused of crimes in the attack were pardoned by President Donald Trump. Some have had their prison sentences commuted.
But Ball, who had a warrant for his arrest charging him with being a felon in possession of a weapon, was quickly re-arrested and charged. He was arrested in May 2023 after the indictment for the Capitol attack.
The arrest warrant from Ball’s Middle District of Florida calls him “a two-time convicted felon with prior convictions for domestic violence, battery by strangulation and resisting law enforcement with violence.”
His previous charges stem from a domestic incident in June 2017 and a police stop in October 2022, both in Florida.
