Police on Thursday morning shot in a man at Toronto Pearson International Airport, causing a partial closure in the departure area of the largest terminal at the airport, the authorities announced.
The age and state of man were unknown. Paramedical paramedics sent four ambulances to the scene at 6:56 am
Peel regional police, the agency responsible for monitoring the airport, did not say that if the man was armed, but said that the officer involved was not injured and that there was no threat to public security.
Police said they had called a special surveillance organization in Ontario to the episodes in which police action or injuries.
The airport authority warned travelers to expect delays in Terminal 1 and has reassured the people they enter and go out in the arrivals area.
In February, the airport was the scene of a major incident when a jet of Delta Air Ligne passengers returned after landing. Although many of the 76 passengers and four crew members on board were injured, all were able to evacuate the plane.
