Man dies in Cortez Hill apartment fire

SAN DIEGO-
A man in his 60s died in an apartment fire in Cortez Hill, a downtown community, early Friday, San Diego officials said.
The fire was reported at the Cortez Hill Apartments on Fourth Avenue at Beech Street around 12:35 a.m.
San Diego Fire Department crews arrived minutes later and extinguished most of the blaze in about 10 minutes, city officials said.
The victim was alone inside when firefighters arrived. Authorities did not say where he was found and he has not been identified.
The fire caused damage estimated at $2,000.
