Man dies after swimming in sea off Welsh coast
A 20-year-old man died after falling into difficulty while swimming in the sea in north-west Wales on a bank holiday Monday, police said.
Police and rescue teams from the RNLI and Coastguard were involved in an operation to save the man, who had difficulty swimming in the Barmouth area of Gwynedd.
He was found shortly before 8 p.m. and taken to hospital by air ambulance, where he died.
The police have launched an appeal for witnesses.
Detective Inspector Richard Griffith, of North Wales Police, said: “We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, who has not yet spoken to police or who may have footage , to contact the police by quoting the reference 24000477242.
“Our hearts go out to the family of the man we continue to support, and the coroner has been informed.”
