Man dies after multiple people shoot guns at KC apartment complex Saturday: police

A man is dead after several people fired guns at an apartment complex in Kansas City’s Volker neighborhood Saturday afternoon, police said.

Around 1:50 p.m., officers responded to a call about a stolen vehicle found in the 3400 block of Wyoming Street. This call later escalated to a shooting. Officers found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds near the Woodbridge Apartments.

The police rescued the victim and called an ambulance. Paramedics declared the victim dead at the scene.

Police said several people fired guns, but the exact number was not immediately available. Three suspects were taken into custody, police said.

Information about the person who called about the stolen vehicle was not available.

“The circumstances, while similar for many calls, vary to some extent with each call,” said Sgt. Phil DiMartino, KCPD spokesperson.

Detectives were talking to witnesses and examining the scene for physical evidence. No further information was available.
