Erling Haaland could be released for at least two weeks or more after the Manchester City striker underwent an ankle injury in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup against Bournemouth last weekend. City announced on Monday that the Norwegian would require other tests to determine the full extent of the injury.
Haaland was replaced in the 61st minute of the 2-1 victory on Sunday, equalized for City, and the 24-year-old is now a doubt for their semi-final against the Nottingham forest at the end of April due to the left ankle problem.
“Erling has undergone initial tests in Manchester on Monday morning and will now ask for a specialized consultation to confirm the full extent of the injury,” City said in a statement.
“The wait is that Erling will be in good shape in time to play an additional role in the rest of this season, including the FIFA club World Cup this summer,” added the club, referring to the tournament from June 14 to July 13 in the United States.
Haaland scored 21 goals in 28 championship games this quarter. Reigning champions in title in reigning is fifth of the table with a single victory in its last four Premier League matches. They welcome Leicester City on Wednesday.
