Jurgen Klopp’s side are now two points ahead of the Gunners and three ahead of Man City.

It was Mikel Arteta’s men who started the better side, but City quickly took control and dominated the first half.

Nathan Ake had his best chance with a close-range header before the defender was forced off with an injury shortly after.

This left Pep Guardiola with a makeshift defender as his side’s injury problems continued.

Arsenal would then see a big chance present itself early in the second half as Gabriel Jesus slipped inches wide of Bukayo Saka’s low cross into the box.

The Gunners would struggle to create after that, however, and it was City who continued.

Erling Haaland missed what appeared to be a tap-in late on by completely missing the ball from four yards out.

Neither team could find that crucial goal and in the end it will be the Liverpool fans who celebrated as they took the lead in the title race.

  • Man City 0-0 Arsenal: REACTION

Pep Guardiola’s side struggled to break down Arsenal’s deep defensive line throughout the match.

And the Spaniard was asked after the match what the solution could be to get behind such a solid low block.

Puffing out his cheeks, he said: “Kill someone? Play with nine…”

  • Man City 0-0 Arsenal: REACTION

Man City manager Pep Guardiola reacted to the 0-0 draw.

“Tough match,” Guardiola told BBC MOTD: “A match quite similar to the previous ones, take the point and move on to the next one.

“They do very good pressing. They master that.

“That’s how it is. Finally, we tried. They have really excellent players in defense, who defend perfectly compact. Low block. We tried.”

  • Man City 0-0 Arsenal: REACTION

Bukayo Saka limped off late in the match, sparking concerns about a possible injury.

However, Mikel Arteta has now confirmed why he was replaced.

He said: “He (Saka) came out today tired, nothing serious.”

  • Man City 0-0 Arsenal: REACTION

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta described his side’s performance as “outstanding” after the match.

Explaining why, Arteta told Sky Sports: “The commitment of the players, the discipline they had in the defensive part when we were very high up the pitch, we won the ball on several occasions.

“Then when they broke the press, we went back and stayed deep.

“When they tried to move the structure, we defended the box very well. We did very well.

“2021 is the last time they didn’t score at home, three years, which shows how difficult it is.”

  • Man City 0-0 Arsenal: REACTION

Bernardo Silva spoke about the title race after Man City’s draw against Arsenal.

He told Sky Sports: “Last April they went man to man for the whole game and when you do that it’s a bit of a 50/50.

“Today it was a different (Arsenal) team, with more experience. They have young players who now have a year more experience.

“They felt what it was like to play here last season and today they were much better.”

“A lot of things can happen. Now we don’t depend on ourselves, we depend on Liverpool and Arsenal now because we don’t play against them anymore.

“So we need them to drop points, do our job and win our own games.”

  • Man City 0-0 Arsenal: REACTION

Manchester City have drawn seven Premier League matches this season, their most in a campaign since 2016-17 (9).

It was their first 0-0 draw in the Premier League since March 2022 against Crystal Palace.

Which means their streak of 75 consecutive league matches without a goalless draw has come to an end.

  • Man City 0-0 Arsenal: REACTION

Mikel Arteta has given his thoughts on Arsenal’s 0-0 draw against Manchester City at the Etihad.

“A really competitive game as you can imagine,” Arteta told BBC MOTD. “We reached another important milestone today.

“They have the ability to change formation to force you into a lot of moments. They are very physical but I thought we handled that very well.

“I think we had the best situations. We were very aggressive at times and sent the ball into great areas. The way we competed individually and as a team was phenomenal.

“Individually you have to be at your best. I think it’s 2021 since they hadn’t scored a goal here at the Etihad.

“It was a really tough test for us today. We wanted to win but when you can’t win, you can’t lose.”
