Man caught and suffocated person on red line until compliance, police say – NBC Chicago

A man grabbed and strangled a person, demanding their belongings, on the CTA red line earlier this week until he complied, authorities said.

On a CTA Red Line platform in Clark and Division at around 10:54 p.m., a man approached another man, grabbed him by the shirt and demanded his possessions, police said.

Police said the man propped the victim up until he obeyed his demands.

The man was last seen wearing a number 50 Chicago Blackhawks jersey, gray camouflage sweatpants and white athletic shoes, police said.

To avoid a similar situation, authorities have advised people to be aware of their surroundings, report any suspicious activity, never prosecute a fleeing assailant, and provide information to the police.
