A man was arrested Thursday as he tried to clear the security of a Congressional office building with a gun in his bag, prompting the United States Capitol Police to warn staff to take action of security.

The United States Capitol Police issued a security alert just before 8 a.m. ET on Thursday telling staff to enter the nearest office, stay away from exterior windows, remain silent, and refrain from entering or leaving the building until the police give the green light.
