Man arrested on suspicion of murder in woman’s death in Pomona – Press Enterprise

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman in Pomona in February, authorities announced Tuesday (April 2).

On March 21, officers with the Pomona Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit arrested Tommy Ray Belin, 43, on suspicion of killing 25-year-old Andrea Bustillos.

The investigation began on Feb. 26, when patrol officers responded to a 9-1-1 call in the 900 block of West Holt Avenue in Pomona regarding a woman possibly suffering a fentanyl overdose.

Officers found Bustillos, unconscious and with visible injuries, at that location. Firefighters tried to save her, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators identified Belin as a suspect and he was arrested in Upland and booked into the Pomona City Jail on charges of murder, assault and sex offender failing to register with police as a transient after having left his residence.

It’s unclear whether the woman died from an overdose or her injuries, nor is it clear what led investigators to find the suspect.

An investigation is underway.
