Man arrested in Marina del Rey after a shooting from a rooftop

A man was arrested Saturday night after allegedly firing several shots from the top of a Marina del Rey building, frightening neighbors and prompting a large emergency response, authorities said.

No one was injured as a result of the heavy gunfire, which was widespread in the streets along the 4100 block of Via Marina, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

An arrest was made after 911 calls were received after 10 p.m. about incessant shooting in the affluent Los Angeles beach neighborhood. The suspect – whose name has not been released – is in custody and an investigation is underway, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

A live stream of the incident appears to have been posted by the shooter, according to City News Service. These videos appear to have been removed from the Internet.

A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department helicopter observed a suspect on the roof of an apartment complex “firing guns,” according to a news release.

Armored SWAT vehicles responded to the active shooter scene and closed streets in the Via Marina neighborhood late Saturday evening.

Witnesses told City News Service the man was a chef.
