Man apparently sets himself on fire outside courthouse where Trump is on trial

A man apparently set himself on fire outside the New York courthouse where former President Donald Trump is on trial.

Trump was inside the courthouse in downtown Manhattan at the time of the fire.

The person was seriously burned and taken from the scene on a stretcher. It was not immediately clear whether the incident was related to the criminal proceedings.

Trump faces criminal charges related to the payment of hush money in 2016 to adult film actress Stormy Daniels. This is the first time in history that a former US president has been tried on criminal charges.

The trial began Monday with jury selection. The full jury was selected Friday noon.
