The Hunting Wives stars Malin Akerman, Katie Lowes, Brittany Snow and Jaime Ray Newman love Saturday evening live’It’s a parody of the hit Netflix series.
Akerman, who plays Margo Banks, posted the skit on her Instagram, writing “Omg @nbcsnl this is the best thing I’ve ever seen!!! 😂 Hunting Wives season 2 premiere (?!) Yessssss!!!!”
Amy Poehler, who took on the role of Akerman’s Margo in the parody, was introduced by showing Chloe Fineman, who played Brittany Snow’s Sophie, topless, a reference to the characters’ first meeting in The Hunting Wives. SNL also praised the infamous wigs that Ackerman’s Margo wears in the series, saying that the wigs “do their best” in the series while Poehler is seen adjusting hers.
Newman, who plays Callie on the show, posted the parody on her Instagram Stories, writing “SNL?!?!? Mind officially BLOWN @thehuntingwives @nbcsnl”
Lowes posted a video of herself alongside Åkerman and Newman watching the SNL drawing on a phone, backstage at the 35th EMA Awards gala in Studio City. “WOMEN HUNT ON @nbcsnl!! We were dying. I love you,” Lowes wrote. Snow responded to Lowes’ post, adding one of the sketch’s most memorable lines: “It’s just us and the baby beans! 😂”
May Cobb, author of The Hunting Wives novel, posted the parody on his Instagram, along with Deadline’s recap of the parody.
The skit was capped off by a surprise appearance from Aubrey Plaza, “the new girl joining the group,” having just moved from California. The women draw their guns when Plaza tells them she’s a lesbian.
