Malaysia intercepts missing oil tanker after Singapore fire

An oil tanker that left the site of a collision and fire east of Singapore was intercepted off the Malaysian coast in the early hours of Sunday, Malaysian maritime authorities said.

Ceres Ia crude oil tanker sailing under the flag of Sao Tome and Principe, and the Hafnia NilA Singapore-flagged oil tanker carrying refined products crashed early Friday morning in one of the world’s busiest waterways, setting both vessels ablaze. The Ceres I then appeared to have turned off its transponder for more than a day, according to Bloomberg ship-tracking data.
