Majority of New Hampshire voters say US is on ‘wrong track’

Most New Hampshire voters think the country is on the “wrong path” and seem dissatisfied with President Joe Biden’s America well into his second year as president, a Saint Anselm’s College poll released this week found.

Overall, the survey found Biden’s approval underwater in double digits, with 57% disapproving and 43% approving. In addition, 56% find it unfavourable, and of these, 50% find it “strongly”.

He also asked respondents, “Would you say things in our country are going in the right direction or things have gone wrong?

A majority, 68%, said things were ‘going off on the wrong track’, while only one in five expressed belief that things were on the ‘right way’. Additionally, a plurality of Granite State voters say they would vote for a generic Republican over a Democrat if the congressional election were held today, 46% to 42%:

Additionally, 53% say they would prefer a candidate for federal office who would “serve as a check” on Biden than someone who would help him embrace a radical agenda (41%).

The survey, conducted March 23-24, 2022 of 1,265 registered New Hampshire voters, has a margin of error of +/-2.8% and comes as inflation and soaring oil prices gasoline continue to plague Biden’s presidency.

New Hampshire is reputedly first in the national primary, but it went to Biden in 2020 by 7.4%. Notably, Granite State has voted blue in every presidential election since 2004.
