Maine’s $1.35B Mega Millions winner called his father a ‘dictator’: court documents

Maine’s $1.35 billion Mega Millions winner called his father a “dictator” and an “asshole” in an explosive argument before cutting off contact with him, according to an explosive court filing.

The unidentified man, who won the fourth largest jackpot in US history in January last year, also went back on his promise to buy his father a garage and cars to repair, according to an affidavit.

The lottery winner’s family dispute was revealed in court documents between the winner and the mother of his daughter, whom he is suing for allegedly violating a nondisclosure agreement by telling the rest of his family details of the big gain.

The lottery winner also allegedly asked his father not to speak to his granddaughter’s mother – identified by a pseudonym, Sara Smith, according to the newspapers.

“I told him… ‘You are not the son I knew,’” his father wrote in the filing.

“He got angry, calling me a “dictator” and an “asshole.” Since then, I haven’t heard from my son and he hasn’t done any of the things he promised.

On his own record, the Mega Millions winner had a different version of events.

“I made the mistake of telling my dad I won the lottery without having him sign a confidentiality agreement,” the winner wrote.

“Our relationship deteriorated rapidly after that,” he continued.

“I did not tell him what I was doing with my money, how I was going to benefit my daughter or any other fact other than the simple fact that I had won.”

The baby’s mom, “Sara Smith,” also provided a sworn statement in which she accused her ex of being paranoid and removing her daughter’s GPS tracker because he feared she was spying on him thanks to him, according to court documents obtained by The Post.

She wrote: “I understand that the plaintiff now claims to have turned off and returned the GPS.
watch because I was using the watch to listen to his conversations. This conspiracy theory is completely unfounded… I don’t know today if this is even technically possible.

She also said in the affidavit that she found the way the winning billionaire served his papers in the lawsuit “downright creepy” after being approached while working as a nurse.

“The plaintiff’s lawyer summoned her from the emergency room where she was treating a patient to serve her complaint; Then the plaintiff’s attorney sent a text message to her personal cell phone telling her she was parked illegally at the hospital.

“The plaintiff’s lawyer sent her another text message later to tell her that he could see that she was now home and that she needed a lawyer to defend her in this case, which “She found it all terrifying, invasive, intimidating and downright frightening,” she wrote. in the affidavit.

Attorneys representing the lottery winner did not immediately respond to The Post when reached for comment.

“Sara Smith” claimed that the winner, identified in newspapers as “John Doe,” was the one who told his family about the historic victory.

The lottery winner’s father also testified in the same way, according to the newspapers.

“I understand that my son stated that he told me nothing about his money ‘other than the simple fact that I won,'” the father wrote.

“That’s not true,” the father said, adding that he did not ask his son for money.

In his own filings, the jackpot winner claimed he put the NDA in place because of the “unique safety, security and privacy issues associated with winning the lottery” and that if his identity was discovered , this would cause “irreparable harm” to both of them.
