Magnitude 4.8 Earthquake Rattles New York City Area
A rare earthquake shook New York City and the tri-state area Friday morning.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) estimated the earthquake to have a magnitude of 4.8, with an epicenter about 20 miles north of North Plainfield, New Jersey, according to the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center.
New York State Governor Kathy Hocul said the state was “assessing the impacts and damages that may have occurred.”
