Madonna said she and Sir Elton John had “buried the ax” and ended their quarrel of several decades.
Sir Elton, 78, has repeatedly accused Madonna of lip synchronization over the years, which has prompted Madonna’s team – in 2004 – to answer that she did not “spend her time throwing other artists”.
The music legends reconciled during the weekend after Madonna went to “confront” Sir Elton after her performance on Saturday Night Live (SNL), she wrote on Instagram.
“The first thing out of his mouth was” forgive me “, and the wall between us fell,” she added.
Vogue singer, 66, said that she was a fan of Sir Elton since she was a teenager.
“Seeing him playing when I was in high school changed the course of my life,” read the post.
“Over the decades, it hurt me to know that someone I admired shared his aversion to me as an artist so much. I didn’t understand it.”
The pressure on the pair relationship has its roots in the 90s.
In 2004, Sir Elton ridiculed Madonna’s appointment in the category of the best acts live to the Q Awards, using explicit language.
He asked: “Since when has the lip synchronization been live?”
“Whoever synchronizes in public on stage when you pay £ 75 to see them should be shot,” he continued.
Madonna’s team denied that she had not sung live.
Sir Elton doubled his criticisms in the years that followed, and in 2012, Madonna had not had a “chance” to beat him at the Golden Globe of the best original song.
After winning the prize for his song masterpiece, Madonna told journalists She hoped that Sir Elton “would speak to me for the next two years”.
“He is known to get angry with me.”
In her position on Monday, Madonna suggested that reconciliation could lead to a musical partnership.
“He said (he) had written a song for me and he wanted to collaborate.”
In response, Sir Elton thanked Madonna for having “forgive me and my big mouth”.
The singer added that he was not proud of what he had said over the years, in particular given the “revolutionary work of Madonna … paving the way for a whole generation of female artists to succeed and be faithful to themselves”.
“I am more and more afflicted by the whole division of our world at the moment,” he said in a comment on his Instagram post.
“By meeting, I hope we can do that great things happen for those who really need support and who have a lot of fun doing it.”
