Madhya Pradesh Lok Sabha 2024 exit poll results: BJP set to make a clean sweep with 26-29 seats

In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP is expected to win 26-29 seats out of 29 in Madhya Pradesh, according to exit poll results from the News18 Poll Hub on Saturday (June 1). While the opposition, Congress is likely to get 0 to 3 seats. only.

Madhya Pradesh, often called the saffron state, has always witnessed the dominance of the BJP. Of the 29 Lok Sabha seats in the state, 10 are reserved for SC and ST candidates, while the remaining seats are unreserved.

In the 2019 general elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 28 of the 29 seats, restricting the Congress to just one seat. While the BJP got a vote share of 58% last time, the Congress could secure only 34.5% votes.

After a resounding victory in the 2023 Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections — winning 163 of the 230 legislative assembly seats — the BJP aims to wipe out the state in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, while Congress, with the help of INDIA, The bloc is looking forward to a potential return to the state.

After major setbacks in the last two Lok Sabha elections and the recent National Assembly polls, the Congress faces an uphill task to make a comeback to the ‘heartland of India’. The Congress is contesting the 2024 elections within the INDIA bloc. He fielded his candidates on 28 seats and left one seat for the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party. While the BJP has fielded its candidates in all 29 seats.

Among the key seats in the state, Guna, a stronghold of the Scindia family, sees Jyotiraditya Scindia, now a Union minister and BJP candidate, taking on Congress’ Rao Yadvendra Singh Yadav.

Chhindwara, a Congress stronghold represented by Kamal Nath and currently held by his son Nakul Nath, pits Nakul against Vivek Sahu of the BJP.

Vidisha marks the return of former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to national politics, contesting his sixth parliamentary election, after BJP stalwarts Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Sushma Swaraj.

Bhopal, won consistently by the BJP since 1989, features Alok Sharma replacing Pragya Singh Thakur, who defeated Congress’s Digvijaya Singh in 2019.

Finally, in Mandla, BJP’s Faggan Singh Kulaste, despite losing in last year’s assembly elections, is contesting against sitting Congress MLA Omkar Singh Markam.

The News18 Poll Hub exit poll covered 95,000 voters across 518 Lok Sabha seats in 21 states.

The 2024 Indian general elections in Madhya Pradesh were held in four phases: April 19, April 26, May 7 and May 13. The Election Commission reported an average turnout of 65% statewide. Notably, phase 4, dominated by Neemuch Malwa, recorded the highest turnout, at 71%, while phase 2, covering Baghelkhand and Bundelkhand, recorded the lowest turnout, at 58%. .59%.
