Politico reported last week that rumors in the National Assembly began to circulate that, within the discussions on the Elysées, it was necessary to call it the new SNAP elections in the coming months. The French president is constitutionally prohibited to dissolve the parliament more than once a year and will resume the power to do so during the summer.
While the official line – that Elysée’s press service reiterated in Politico – is that the president does not intend to call new elections before the next presidential race, scheduled for 2027, some of Macron’s allies advised him to govern anything so that he can viation.
The French legislature was in virtual -Adlock since Macron surprised the whole country – including members of his own camp and the Minister of Primary, Gabriel Attal – by dissolving the National Assembly last summer. The decision led to a suspended parliament, which Macron approached in his comments with journalists on Thursday.
“We know the fragmentation that exists in our political life. I will try to create as much consensus as possible to act,” said Macron.
