London – Harrods, the emblematic Luxury Supervisor, has become the last British retailer to be the victim of a cyber attack. The hack has targeted the retail giant based in London, which raises concerns concerning the vulnerability of high -end companies with online security violations.
The details of the cyber attack remain vague, but some customers have declared could not make purchases. The department store belonging to Qatar said it was forced to temporarily close certain systems after realizing that it was targeted earlier this week.
Harrods added that customer payment data was not compromised during the attempted violation. In a press release, the store said: “We recently experienced attempts to obtain unauthorized access to some of our systems. Our experienced IT security team immediately took proactive measures to ensure systems security and, therefore, we have limited internet access to our sites today.”
This hacking attempt follows shortly after two other major British retailers – Marks & Spencer and Coop – were targeted in online violations. The two retailers lost millions after being forced to close certain parts of their computer systems to protect themselves from other attacks. Marks & Spencers has not been able to finish online orders since last Friday.
It is still not known whether the three cyber attacks are connected.
