Luke Shaw targets Premier League and Champions League double for Manchester United next season
Luke Shaw says Manchester United are aiming for a Premier League and Champions League double next season.
The Red Devils have enjoyed an improved campaign this time around and can secure a Champions League return with a point at home to Chelsea on Thursday night.
Erik ten Hag’s side have already won Carabao Cup success and have the opportunity to lift the FA Cup next month against neighbors Manchester City.
That’s a far cry from a year ago when United finished sixth and recorded their lowest Premier League points tally of 58.
But Ten Hag has rejuvenated a stagnant squad and although the article is not yet finished, Shaw believes United are showing the signs of a club on their way back to the top.
“I think the teams around us can definitely see United coming back,” Shaw said. sky sports.
“First season under the new manager, of course I think there will always be a bit of a transition. It’s clear to see what he brought and how he changed the way we think, the way we play.
“I think he wants to bring a lot of intensity. I think all he wants the team to do is high intensity. He wants us to be aggressive, on the front foot and that we pressures as high as possible.
“But also with the ball, I think he made us better. I think we are more of a threat now with the ball, when we are on the ball. It is clear that we are going in the right direction and as I mentioned before, we have to fight for the title.
Shaw admits new signings this summer are key to United’s success next season. United have been linked with moves for England stars Declan Rice and Mason Mount but are believed to be prioritizing a new striker.
No matter who comes in, Shaw says early transfer business is imperative for the club ahead of the new campaign and sets his teammates up with two huge targets next season.
“I think with this squad and certainly the direction the manager is going, I’m sure we’re going to be making new signings, big signings this summer, so hopefully we can do them as quickly as possible so that they are ready for the pre-season.
“I think our goal at the start of next season has to be to win the Premier League and the Champions League and that’s how we have to think from now on.”
