Luke Littler isn’t going to stop winding up football fans annoyed by deleted Jurgen Klopp joke and Neal Maupay dig

Luke Littler told football fans affected by his cheeky social media posts: ‘I can’t hack it, bad luck.’

Since rising to fame, the 17-year-old darts sensation has taken part in plenty of high-profile football banter online.

As an avid Manchester United fan, the PDC World Darts Championship runner-up caught the attention of fans as he mocked Liverpool when the Red Devils knocked them out of the FA Cup in a now-deleted post.

“What is the difference between Luke Littler and Jurgen Klopp?” wrote the youngster on his X. “Littler has more triples!”

His fun wasn’t there though, with Littler biting at Premier League clearance dealer Neal Maupay’s Instagram dig at Man United star Scott McTominay after the teams’ 1-1 draw.

Now, however, the PDC Youth World Champion has revealed he has no plans to post his “funny” posts anytime soon, despite what his rivals’ fans might say.

Littler reportedly told The Sun: “I appreciate it – everyone knows who Neal Maupay is and what he does.

“Personally, I laugh at what he does, so I got 20p worth of it, and why not?

“It’s all part of the fun. With the Newcastle fans I had a bit of a joke with Chris Dobey and United beating Liverpool was a big game to win.

“So I got my 20p worth on social media again. If other people can’t hack it, bad luck.”

Away from his harmless jokes about the timeline, Littler is currently second in the Premier League darts table.

He is set to face Michael van Gerwen in the quarter-finals on Thursday night 10 at Manchester’s AO Arena – the same opponent he faced last Thursday in the semi-final in Belfast before securing his first Premier League victory.

The youngster has now beaten every active PDC world darts champion since his run to the final at Alexandra Palace, apart from Flying Scotsman Gary Anderson, who he is yet to face.

Speaking about his rise, Littler said: “As a teenager I still can’t believe I’m playing against these guys week in week out. Now I’ve won a Premier League night beating Luke, Michael and Nathan. (Aspinall), who have all won multiple majors. It’s what you dream of.

“Playing Manchester is the night I’ve been looking forward to the most – I’m a United fan and I can’t wait to get on that stage in front of a home crowd.

“It would mean the world would win in front of all these people, in one of the biggest arenas in the country. I have a tough match – Michael (van Gerwen) brings out the best in me but it seems I bring the best of myself. the best of him.

“He’s not in the best shape, but we know he has those extra gears to activate. I’m in a good place in the standings and I feel comfortable now that I’m second.

“I hope the crowd will be on my side and get involved in the walk-on. But as soon as the ref says ‘Game on,’ I won’t be carried away by the noise. That’s what we all have things to do on Premier League nights.

“There will be noise with every dart you throw, so you have to enjoy the noise but also turn it off when the pressure is on.”
