Luigi Mangione, the 26 -year -old accused, accused of having fired in the PDG of United CEO on a Manhattan sidewalk last year, was charged with the Federal Court for murder, hunt for firearms.
Mangione faces state and federal accusations for Brian Thompson’s December 4 murder in a case that exposed the deep anger and frustration to the health system and American insurance companies.
Federal prosecutors inaugurated accusations against Mangione at the end of last year, but he had not yet been charged with these accusations so far.
The federal murder accusation thanks to the use of a firearm leads to a maximum death sentence, if it is found guilty. Prosecutor General Pam Bondi said the Ministry of Justice would ask for the death penalty in his case against Mangione.
Mangione has already pleaded not guilty to the accusations of New York state of murder and terrorism.
A mangione spokesperson made no comments when he reached CNN on Thursday.
Earlier this month after the Ministry of Justice declared that they would ask for the death penalty, Mangione lawyer Karen Friedman Agnifilo, said: “We are ready to fight these federal accusations, carried by a Ministry of Justice without law, as well as the accusations of New York State and the accusations of Pennsylvania, and everything they want to stack on Luigi.
In February, Mangione added an experienced lawyer in cases of death to his legal team. Avraham Moskowitz represented more than 50 accused charged in cases eligible for the death penalty in New York, according to legal files and mangione lawyers.
Mangione is accused of having shot down Thompson while the executive was heading for a hotel welcoming the annual investor conference in Unitedhealthcare in Midtown Manhattan at the end of last year.
The following shots and days of a manhunt drew national attention while the investigators shared details on the writings and the alleged words of Mangione on the balls found on the scene.
Mangione is held in federal custody in Brooklyn, New York, although officials said that his case before the New York State Tribunal would be forward first.
He was charged by a great Manhattan jury in 11 counts, including a first degree murder leader and two second -degree murder leaders, as well as other weapons and counterfeiting. He risks a prison sentence without possibility of parole if it was found guilty of state accusations.
The accusation of the first degree alleged murder that he killed the executive “in the pursuit of an act of terrorism”, which is legally defined as an intention of intimidating or forcing the civilian population or a government unit. One of the second degree charges also alleys that Mangione committed a murder “as a crime of terrorism”.
The 26 -year -old also faces state accusations in Pennsylvania, where he was arrested after a week’s man hunt.
When arrested after being spotted in a Pennsylvania McDonald’s, the police recovered a “ghost pistol” and a notebook full of writings which, according to them, revealed a well -planned homicide involving the hunt for his alleged victim.
