LSU cornerback Javien Toviano accused of video voyeurism

Louisiana State University sophomore cornerback Javien Toviano was arrested Sunday and charged with video voyeurism, the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

The 19-year-old footballer is accused of filming himself having sex with his girlfriend without her consent.

According to the arrest warrant, Toviano used a clock with a built-in hidden camera to secretly record the couple having sex.

The victim reportedly told police that she tried to discuss the recordings with Toviano, but he refused to tell her about them.

The victim also told police that Toviano had secretly recorded them having sex in the past, and she informed him that she had not consented.

According to the arrest warrant, Toviano admitted to police during an interview that he used a hidden camera inside a clock to film himself and his girlfriend having sex without her consent. He reportedly told police that he placed the clock camera on their dresser before going to bed.

If convicted, Toviano faces up to five years in prison and would have to register as a sex offender, according to the Louisiana state legislature.

“The student-athlete has been suspended from all team activities in accordance with department policies,” LSU said in a statement.

“We will not make any further comments out of respect for the legal process.”

Toviano, a mechanical engineering major, signed with LSU last year as a freshman and appeared in all 13 games, starting three of the last five.
